Founded in 2013, the gallery was born from the desire to share her deep appreciation for master-craftsmen’s ethos through works of art that embody artisanal dexterity and cultural heritage. Rooted in Courbet’s longstanding collaborations with master-artisans, artists, and designers around the world, the gallery is her tribute to the painstaking work of today’s rarefied master-craftsmen.

Ateliers Courbet has garnered international recognition for its distinct curatorial vision dedicated to the ongoing craftsmanship legacies and time-honored techniques behind selected collections of decorative arts and furniture. Today, the gallery represents a permanent roster of over 30 ateliers. Working with an international clientele of private collectors, interior designers and public institutions, Courbet fosters the ongoing master craftsmanship and design legacies carried on by centuries-old manufactures and contemporary artisans around the world.

Born in France, Courbet’s eye and vision were deeply influenced by extensive travels around the world as a child and a young adult. While her artistic sensibility is informed by an upbringing anchored in the arts on her mother’s side, her gallery and its mission were inspired by her father – a visionary merchant and spear-header of the organic food movements in Paris in the 1980s. Prior to founding Les Ateliers Courbet in New York, Courbet lived and worked in Los Angeles where she advised young collectors, managed international design projects, organized exhibitions in Paris and New York, and incubated Alecia Seidler’s Love & Art for Children Foundation and its art school in Jatai, Brazil. In 2010, architecture and design studio Dror brought Courbet to New York where she managed the studio’s international communications and business development before opening her gallery in 2013. Over the years, Courbet’s collaborations have included established entities such as LVMH, Cappellini, Christie’s, and Pritzker-prized architect, Thom Mayne; institutions including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; as well as the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture in France.
