The work transforms a disposable piece of printed media into a unique object, continuing the artist’s interest in salvaging overlooked materials and revealing the cultural associations embedded within them. The phrase evokes both spectacle and basketball history, particularly the fast-paced era of the Los Angeles Lakers commonly known as “Showtime.” By stripping away most of the original context, Winston leaves the familiar expression suspended between sports reference, advertising slogan, and command to perform.
